Derawar Fort Dera Nawab Sahib in Bahawalpur

Derawar Fort is located at a distance of 48 kilometers from Dera Nawab Sahib in Bahawalpur, Pakistan. This fort was built by Rajput Rai Jajja Bhati of Jaisalmer.

This fort is so grand that it is visible from many miles away in the Cholistan desert. Derawar Fort is a square fort in the Cholistan desert, constructed in the 9th century. Despite being in existence for almost 12 centuries, this magnificent fort is still in good condition.

This fort made of red bricks in the desert of Cholistan can be seen even from a distance. The walls of this historical palace are 30 meters high and its circumference is 1500 meters. This grand fort was built by a Hindu ruler of Rajasthan. It was built to pay tribute to Raja Rawal Devraj Bhatti, the ruler of Jaisalmer and Bahawalpur. After this, in 1733, Nawab of Bahawalpur Sadiq Mohammad Khan got it rebuilt.

After the partition of India this fort went to the Pakistan region.
